This material was created exclusively for the review process of the Honda Mobilityland Innovation Awards. Some information has been processed or edited based on unpublished data. Please refrain from sharing or reproducing this content outside the Honda Mobilityland Innovation Awards.
1. Visitor Scale, Attendance, and Ticket Sales
・The 2025 F1 Japanese Grand Prix recorded a total attendance of 266,000 visitors over three days, marking one of the highest levels in history.・Overseas visitors accounted for approximately 30% of all attendees.
・Domestic attendance also remained strong. Yuki Tsunoda’s promotion to Red Bull significantly boosted last-minute ticket sales and contributed to an increase in first-time visitors.
2. Access, Transportation, and Mobility Challenges
・Approximately 70% of visitors traveled via rail (JR / Kintetsu / Ise Railway), with a growing share of those arriving by car.・While overseas visitors also mainly used rail, many reported challenges such as:
“difficult-to-understand access,” “limited English guidance,” “long distance from the station,” and “long waiting times for buses.”
・Increased use of West Area (non-reserved) tickets led to noticeable congestion, long bus queues, and stress during return routes.
・Long lines for restrooms and water stations, as well as crowding on public transportation, were cited as major concerns.
・To enhance recognition and guidance starting at travel origin points, event-related activations were implemented at major stations including Nagoya, Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka.
• Suzuka Circuit Official Access Guide (English)
3. Official LINE Account (Entertainment Official Account / F1 Japanese GP)Note: LINE is a popular messaging and communication platform widely used in Japan and parts of Asia. It functions similarly to WhatsApp or WeChat in other regions, offering messaging, notifications, and official brand accounts for information delivery.
・The LINE Entertainment Official Account (F1 Japanese GP) launched full-scale operations in 2025.・As of December 2025, the account has approximately 30,000 followers.
・The platform provides access guidance, congestion updates, and event information via LINE, as well as reminders for ticket holders.
・It also supports community building and strengthens reach particularly among first-time attendees and younger audiences.
4. Honda Mobilityland’s Sustainability Initiatives
Honda Mobilityland Sustainability and Economy Report 2025(PDF:15.8MB)
Fan Engagement Challenge
Track B
The focus: to develop strategies to expand motorsports appeal to new audiences.
Prompts you may wish to consider:
- How might we extend the F1/Suzuka fan experience into TikTok, YouTube, or AR/VR?
- How can fans co-create and share content that makes them part of the race story?
- How can we design gamified or immersive activities that connect fans to the event in real time?
Entries will be judged based on the following criteria:
- Impact: how effectively does the idea expand motorsports appeal to new audiences?
- Creativity: how original is the idea?
- Feasibility: how realistic is the idea to implement?
- Quality & Validation: how clearly is the idea presented, and how well is it strengthened by initial research data or test results?
- Fan Community Voting: how positively is the idea supported by the public?Review Database
This material was created exclusively for the review process of the Honda Mobilityland Innovation Awards. Some information has been processed or edited based on unpublished data. Please refrain from sharing or reproducing this content outside the Honda Mobilityland Innovation Awards.
1. Expanding the Fan Base and Attracting First-Time Visitors
・Approximately 15,000 people visited for the first time in 2025.
・Attendance among younger audiences, women, and families is steadily increasing.
・About half of first-time visitors purchased West Area (non-reserved) tickets, with many buying their tickets shortly before the event.
・Key motivations for attendance included “Yuki Tsunoda’s strong performance” and “wanting to see F1 in person at least once.”
2. Social Media, Video Content, and Real-Time Updates
・Short-form videos on Instagram, X, and TikTok, as well as on-site experience videos on YouTube, strengthened engagement with younger and future audiences.
・For inbound visitors, efforts have been made to include English and multilingual support, though the overall volume of available information remains insufficient.
・Support for overseas fans also included responding to questions via social media and providing more accessible guidance tailored to inbound audiences.
3. LINE Entertainment Official Account (F1 Japanese GP) – Case Example
Note: LINE is a popular messaging and communication platform widely used in Japan and parts of Asia. It functions similarly to WhatsApp or WeChat in other regions, offering messaging, notifications, and official brand accounts for information delivery.
・The LINE Entertainment Official Account (F1 JapaneseGP) began full-scale operations in 2025.
・As of December 2025, the account has approximately 30,000 followers.
・With a focus on community building, the account promotes engagement among existing and first-time fans through web and social media outreach, fan‑led viewing guides, experience stories, and real-time updates.
・Two-way communication, such as surveys and social media interactions, is also being enhanced.
・However, the overall fan base still has significant room for growth, with a target of reaching 100,000 followers in the future.
4. Fan Experience, Events, and Community Engagement
・On-site experiential events have been expanded, including the FANZONE stage and WEST FANZONE areas.
・Stage appearances by current F1 drivers and talk shows featuring F1 commentators received high satisfaction ratings.
・Japan-themed content—such as Kabuki-inspired performances and cherry blossom flag displays—was also offered to enrich the cultural experience.
5. Satisfaction and Challenges
・Both domestic and international visitors reported dissatisfaction regarding access, congestion, and network conditions (Wi-Fi / mobile connectivity).
・Long waiting times for restrooms and food services remain major issues.
・Overseas visitors expressed additional concerns such as “difficulty understanding access routes,” “limited English guidance,” and difficulties in understanding the race progression.”
